RSA Take Over processing of ADR Vehicle certification from Bus Eireann

From Monday 11th January 2010, all applications for Certification of ADR vehicles (Dangerous Goods vehicles) will be processed by the Road Safety Authority.

Currently, consignors wishing to carry hazardous or dangerous goods by road must apply to Bus Eireann for a certificate of approval. Currently, a single test fee is submitted with the application form. Bus Eireann then process the application and certification and forward the relevant data to the individual ADR test centre, who carry out the actual test.

From Monday 11 January 2010, consignors wishing to carry hazardous or dangerous goods by road must apply to the RSA for certification, instead of to Bus Eireann. The procedure for the actual ADR test itself will remain the same, i.e. the test will be carried out as at present by the test centre. There are currently 17 approved centres throughout Ireland which carry out the technical examination on behalf of the RSA.

In addition to the change of address for submitting applications outlined above, the terms of payment will also change. While the overall fee payable by applicants for the test remains the same, from Monday 11 January 2010 onwards, each applicant must submit a fee of €91.50 with the application to the RSA and then pay the remaining €91.50 directly to the test centre on the day of the test. The RSA will be unable to process applications with an incorrect fee, and such applications will be returned to the applicant with a request for the correct fee (€91.50).

All test applicants currently on the Bus Eireann database will be notified of the change and a new RSA ADR Application Form will be enclosed with each application. If a test applicant requires further forms they can print off the form at the bottom of this notice or contact the new ADR Unit in the RSA.
