RSA & Irish Haulier of the Year 2010 Take to the Road With Life Saving Messages
The Road Safety Authority (RSA) in partnership with Reynolds Logistics Ltd, the current Irish Haulier of the Year 2010, have literally taken to the roads to deliver life saving road safety messages to road users.
Under the initiative road safety messages have been printed onto the back of twenty six tankers in the Reynolds Logistics fleet.
Commenting on the joint campaign, RSA Chairman Mr. Gay Byrne said, “This is a very important project for the RSA. We are thrilled that Reynolds Logistics Ltd has agreed to carry these messages on their vehicles. While most people will be familiar with our TV advertising campaigns, initiatives such as this are just as significant. Why? Because the messages target road users, especially drivers, at what we call the ‘point of danger’, that is, when they are actually using the roads and are at greatest risk.”
Mr. Joe Reynolds, Chairman, Reynolds Logistics Ltd, said “We are an Irish owned, family business and the company has been in operation since 1928. A culture of safety is ingrained in our DNA and we felt that there was an opportunity for us to extend these values into the wider community. The most practical way to do this was by using our vehicles to speak to road users. To remind them that using the roads is the most dangerous thing we do each day and to be mind full of this fact.”
The themes covered by the messages on the twenty six vehicles include, speeding, drink driving, driver fatigue, seatbelt wearing, mobile phones and vehicle lighting / fog lights.
