European Commission Consultation on Vehicle Weights and Dimensions (Directive 96/53/EC)
This information note has been issued by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) to make interested parties aware of the current European Commission consultation on Vehicle Weights and Dimensions (Directive 96/53/EC).
The format of this consultation is broken into four main areas of interest. These are:
- Vehicle design and energy efficiency
- Intermodality and transportation innovation
- Legal clarification regarding countries setting their own weight limits
- Enforcement and control
If you, your business or your members are affected by any of these areas, or have proposals that may be of interest to the Commission, we would advise that you respond directly to the Commission before the consultation’s closing date of the 27 February 2012.
Consultation submissions can be made by filling out an online form. Alternatively, you may download this document that can be used to draft your response. This can them be emailed to MOVE-D3-CONSULTATION-TRANSPORTS@ec.europa.eu or posted to:
