Voluntary Replacement Offer High Visibility Vests between September 2011 and December 2011

Between September 2011 and December 2011 Optipro supplied the Road Safety Authority (RSA) with High Visibility vests, many of which the Road Safety Authority distributed free of charge to the public.
Subsequent testing carried out on samples of these garments identified a potential performance deficit in the reflective tape used on these products.
These products are required to be manufactured to European Standards EN471 and EN1150 which require a specific area of bright coloured day time visible material and a retro reflective tape which provides increased visibility.
Testing has shown irregularities with the performance of the retro reflective tape and this means that it may be less reflective than the standard requires. While the reflective material may not be as bright as required, wearers of these garments are, however, offered much greater visibility and are therefore more safe while wearing them than not.
This potentially reduced performance affects only a very small percentage of all RSA garments issued. These affected garments can be identified by the sew-in neck label, and relate to those bearing the “OptiPro” name.
Only High Visibility vests with this label are affected.
No other RSA branded garments are affected.
OptiPro has undertaken to replace these garments free of charge and should you wish to avail of a replacement garment you should return the original High Visibility vest by post to Optipro, PO Box 861, South City Delivery Office, Togher, FREEPOST FCK718, Cork.
More detailed information on how to identify these specific garments is to be found at the following websites: www.rsa.ie, www.optiprosafety.com .
