Map of collisions
A map of road collisions in Ireland.
The interactive map below illustrates the location of fatal and injury road collisions in recent years in Ireland. Collisions can be filtered according to severity, year, county and local authority. Information on how to read the map can be found below the map frame. This collision map is based on data from An Garda Síochána only. Information on serious injuries from hospital data can be found towards the end of this webpage.

- Year – Year of collision
- Collision Type – Select all or fatal, serious and minor injury collisions
- Collision ID – unique pseudonymised identifier for each collision
- Collision severity- fatal collision, serious collision, non-serious collision. Please see definitions at the bottom of this page.
- Year – year of collision

- In addition to the above, the number of Road user types by injury types per collision are present. The road user types are 'Driver', 'Passenger', 'Motorcyclist', 'Cyclist', 'Pedestrian' 'E-scooter user/Other'. The injury types are 'Fatal', 'Serious injury', 'Minor injury'. Please note that E-scooter/Other category is in use for 2020 data onwards only.
On top of the map frame you will see a tab titled "Source Data". This can be selected to show the data behind the map. On the tool bar at bottom of the map frame you will see the download button. This can be selected and the data behind the map can be downloaded. When using this data, you must acknowledge the RSA as the source of the data and cite the date on which the data is current.
When using this data you must never web-scrape or change the data values in any way.
Other information
The Road Safety Authority publishes casualty collision location information on public roads in the Republic of Ireland. The information is based on collision data collected by An Garda Síochána and transferred to the RSA. The locations of road collisions in Ireland are shown on OpenStreetMap.
Definitions of collisions and casualties
Fatal Collision: Where at least one person is killed as a result of the collision and death occurs within 30 days. Please note, that there may have been seriously injured road users, minorly injured road users and non-injured road users involved.
Serious Injury Collision: Where there are no deaths but a person or persons are seriously injured. A serious injury is an injury for which the person is detained in hospital as an ‘in-patient’, or any of the following injuries whether or not detained in hospital: fractures, concussion, internal injuries, crushings, severe cuts and lacerations, severe general shock requiring medical treatment. Please note, that there may have been minorly injured road users and non-injured road users involved.
Minor injury collision: Where there are no deaths or serious injuries but a person or persons are minorly injured. A minor injury is an injury of a minor character such as a sprain or bruise. Please note, that there may have been non-injured road users involved.
Casualty collisions refer to fatal, serious and minor injury collisions.
Collision information for collisions for 2022 onwards are provisional and subject to change. There may be some inconsistencies in the data e.g. less than 1% of collisions do not have coordinates and cannot be mapped.
Hospital data
Hospital data on serious injuries is not included in the map above as there are no coordinates for the collisions available in the HIPE data set. For further information please see reports located towards the end of this webpage.
