Commercial Vehicle Operator Risk Indicator (CVORI)  

How and why the CVORI system works. 

The Commercial Vehicle Operator Risk Rating Indicator (CVORI) is a risk-rating system which applies to all operators of: 

  • heavy goods vehicles
  • goods trailers
  • buses
  • ambulances. 

CVORI helps us target commercial vehicle and driver enforcement where there is most risk to road safety.

As an operator you are given a risk-rating assessment for road safety compliance for both roadworthiness and driver hours requirements. This is based on data we collect from factual, evidence-based information that includes data from CVR tests and inspections by our enforcement officers.
