Vehicle Components

EC directives and regulations set the type approval requirements that certain components are required to meet in order to be placed on the market for motor vehicles. The components must also be marked and labelled as prescribed in the regulatory acts. The requirements apply to both approval of components already fitted to new vehicles and to replacement components placed on the market. Examples of replacement components which require approval to be sold or fitted to certain vehicles include; tyres, exhaust silencers, catalytic converters, glazing, seat belts, brake linings, coupling devices, lights and light bulbs.
